Saw these MP5S 2 Pack 5-Piece DuraPlus Urethane Golf Balls and the hype in their ad so why not try them. After all isn't ever golfer's dream to get 10 to 15 more yards off the tee. Now that these golf balls have arrived all I need is mother nature to cooperate. And how often do you get to hit a "black" golf ball? I never have so it will be an interesting experiment not only to see if they live up to the distance and control but if a black golf ball is easy to track in the air.
Distance is low than average. Played 9 holes with it and the ball is completely scuffed up so the durability is not as good as it should for the price. Great for a high handicap player who isn’t concerned about distance or spin around the greens. Mid to lower handicap players, don’t bother, you’ll think they’re range balls after a few holes.
These balls are on the firm side, which I like. Not hard, but firmer than a Pro V1. I started by putting and chipping with it. It behaves like a tour caliber ball. I decided to play the black ball first. I was not sure why they made a black golf ball, but I was able to see why on the very first tee. I have trouble following golf balls in the air. I lose them against the sky. I could clearly see this ball against the sky and could follow it all the way to the ground. Could not see it after that. It was also kind of a muddy day, so it wasn't super easy to see on the ground until you got close to it. I liked the visibility in the air so well, I would consider playing a black ball, but it would be better to reserve those for days when the ground is dry. Unfortunately, I hit the ball deep into the woods on the 4th hole, so it was gone. I played the white ball later in the round. I hit the first shot with it on a par 3 with a sand wedge that is only a few weeks old. It made a small scuff on the cover, so I would say they may not be any more durable than other balls. I am not a great player, but I do normally play tour level balls. This wouldn't be my favorite of those, but I have a few favorites and the others I still like. This would fit in that group. Nothing wrong with the ball, it is just personal preference. In the end, these are a solid tour caliber ball. They were made in a factory in Taiwan that makes several well-known brands of balls. I don't know if pricing could cause issues just because the brand is not well known, but the ball is decent. If you have trouble seeing the ball in the air, try the black ones.
